Karen clients attend a DIY workshop at Bunnings.

Bunnings’ Hoppers Crossing store provided a free DIY workshop for AMES’ Karen clients in their own language.

Five clients attended the session at which AMES student Jonathan Shwe acted as interpreter. Jonathan said that the participants enjoyed the session and learnt some great skills.

“Bruce the presenter was engaging and made the session fun,” he said.

The workshop was themed on the topic “around the house” and it covered practical skills including painting, repairing plaster and replacing light globes.

AMES Employment Liaison Counselling Coordinator Paul Harrip said the workshop was a great opportunity for clients to learn useful household skills.

“We’d like to thank Bunnings staff for their help with this valuable project,” he said.
