​Over 1000 people attended last week’s Community Cultural Fair, hosted for the third year at the Multicultural Hub, in celebration of Cultural Diversity Week.

Fair attendees were treated to roving cultural performances, rituals and workshops including: Burundi drummers, an Ethiopian coffee ceremony, Tai chi, Poi, jewellery making, cooking workshops and face painting.

Around 32 market stall holders from diverse communities sold handmade items inspired by their ethnicities. This year, fair visitors also enjoyed culturally themed photo booths set up by Chinese, Japanese, Egyptian, Sikh and Pakistani groups.

There was also a delicious variety of food for sale by AMES social enterprise the Sorghum Sisters.

Run in partnership with the City of Melbourne, the Community Cultural Fair has proven a successful platform for cross cultural awareness and exchange.
