GREATER Dandenong asylum seekers are immersing themselves in voluntary work to keep busy and contribute to the community.

Eight Sri Lankan asylum seekers from AMES have been helping the Dandenong Salvos in their Doveton thrift store for the past few months, picking up and stocking donations, and running the register.
