THE Coalition will introduce legislation aimed at fast-tracking the refugee claims of asylumseekers in Australia in a bid to clear the backlog of almost 25,000 boat arrivals in legal limbo.
As the first refugee decisions are issued to detainees on Nauru and with the people-smuggling trade grinding to a standstill, the Abbott government is preparing for the next stage of its asylumseeker policy, with new legislation expected to hit the parliament within months.
